Inspired by the work of Hendrik Werkman who made his living as a commercial printer in Groningen, Holland, but is now remembered for his groundbreaking collaged artworks composed of type, rules and printing. He turned type into image, treated ink as though it was paint and played with paper textures.
Saint No More is inspired by his skilful marriage of type, repetition, pattern and texture. Playful yet geometric intersection and overlap creating structured block and circular pattern. Use of minimal colours in dull hues to bring out the fainted texture of old fragmented ink suffered by the implications of war and leading the way to resurrection, peace and no one minds a beer!
